ULTRA - Subwoofer Cable - 50 ft.

Connects a Receiver to a Subwoofer

It is always a challenge to find new and interesting ways to increase your German vocabulary. You will find it easier to learn in small chunks, and the 'Kurz und bndig' book/audio CD combo can help.

Diogenes Verlag from Zurich, Switzerland has gathered a selection of short stories from authors as diverse as Robert Walser, W. Somerset Maugham, Bertolt Brecht, Doris Drrie, Mark Twain, the Bible, the Brothers Grimm, and many others from several countries around the world.

The book contains 100 stories, some as short as 20 words, up to a maximum of 4 1/2 pages. Subject matter ranges from funny to ridiculous to sad to perplexing, with several emotions in between. Diogenes introduces the reader to postal workers, fleas, mice, and ex-lovers. You will read about wishes and murders, watchmen and slippers. You will laugh and frown, and sometimes be left hanging without an answer.

Although the stories are in German, if you really need to find the English versions, you should be able to locate them on the Internet.

The CD package contains 65 stories, 45 of which are from the book. Of these 45, three have slightly different translations, but are still useful for learning purposes. Anna Knig and Hans Korte, who have slightly different accents, narrate the CD-based stories. Use the differences in enunciation as an opportunity for your ear to adjust to what is common with just about every foreign language - regional accents.

To utilize these German productions as learning tools, I recommend the following:

  • Start with the stories that are both on the CD and in the book.
  • Begin with the shortest story, learn the vocabulary, and then progress to the next.
  • Work your way through all 45 stories on the CD.
  • Now tackle the 55 stories out of the book that have no audio version.
  • Once again, begin with the shortest story and work up to the largest. You can estimate size by going to the 'Inhalt' (table of contents) and looking at the page numbers.
  • After you have completed the stories in the book, go through the remaining 20 stories on the CD. This part will be the most difficult, as you will be relying purely on your auditory language skills. However, you will already be familiar with the narrators' voices, so the experience should be relatively painless.

The learning process will take you through a total of 120 stories. By the time you have completed the book and audio presentation, your German vocabulary should have improved dramatically, and you will have had some fun to boot!

For a list of the 45 stories that are common to both CD and book, see the link in the author's resource box. There are two versions of the list:

  • Sorted by story size
  • Sorted by CD track

WARNING: Before installing your CD changer and CD lead always ensure that the CD lead connection matches the connection at the rear of your radio. Thereafter test for correct operation. Actually, place them on your passenger seat, connect them together and test them. This will prevent any frustration if there are any incompatibility issues.

Youve bought your CD changer package, but can 'You' install it? Installation seems to be a big mystery with many customers, but understandably if youve never fitted a CD Changer before then you wont know what to expect.

Who can install my CD Package?

1. Install yourself with the aid of some basic tools. 2. Find a local Auto Electrician or Car Audio fitter to install it.

When installing CD Changers we often get asked:

How do I remove my radio?

Do I have to disconnect my radio?

How do I run the CD lead from my radio to the CD changer mounting location?

Where and how do I mount the CD changer?

How do I install the CD interface?

Is any extra wiring necessary other than the CD BUS lead?

How do I install an FM Modulator CD Changer?

Radio Removal

To remove your radio you will need radio removal keys. Radio release keys are also freely available at car accessory outlets. Alternatively, some Japanese radios are held in with screws that are hidden behind the dash fascia that is held on with press clips and/or screws.

The radio removal keys are inserted into the holes (round or rectangular) provided on the radio fascia until they lock in position. You then ease out your radio. If you are NOT sure of how to remove your radio, your best option is to seek advice from your local car dealerships service department. Ask to speak to a technician.

Alternatively, run your car to your local car dealer and ask a technician to release your radio for you as they will definitely have the correct radio release keys. With most vehicles, it will take seconds to release your radio and they will not charge you for this.

Is it OK to disconnect my car Battery?

It is not essential to disconnect your battery, but if you do, (disconnect your negative terminal and not your positive terminal). The product manufacturers tell you to disconnect your battery before carrying out any installation work in order to cover themselves for safety reasons. As a recommendation, you should become familiar with how to disconnect your battery just in case you need to for whatever reason.

If you are 'very' safety conscious, you can attach a 10-amp blade type fuse in-line with a short piece of wire using two red female spade connectors pushed onto the fuse blades (these are available from any car accessory shop). Connect this wire in between your battery negative terminal and the negative battery post. This is a quick way of ensuring your full safety from any electrical problem.

Radio Code

If your radio has a security code, ensure that you have it recorded as your radio will need this code entering after reconnecting your battery. If you have a record of your security code, follow the instructions in your radio handbook on how to input this or, alternatively, consult your local car dealer.

If you do lose your radio code and dont have any record of it, you will need to get it decoded. This basically means you will have to locate a company who can decode radios (take a look in the Yellow Pages) under Car Audio or Car Electrics.

Is it OK to disconnect my factory fitted radio connectors?

As above, on most occasions you will not have to disconnect your radio from the wiring loom connectors. But if you have to, ensure that you know your radio security code (if it has one) before disconnecting or you will lose this code.

Do yourself a favor. Go to this site: car-audio-products-and-accessories.com and read the articles. They cover much on car audio. They will help you do a better job of your car audio.

However, if you choose to use the pros, go here for a professional installer if you're in the UK.

Keep Your iPod Safe From Thieves With These Prevention Tips

I'm not sure if anyone loves their iPod as much as I love mine. I basically use it all day long. So you can imagine how vulnerable I felt when mine was stolen right out of my car. I started reading up and found that unfortunately these little pieces of technology are the number one target of thieves. There are ways you can prevent my horrible situation from happening to you. You just need to know what to do.

Ipods have increasingly grown in popularity over the past few years. With that increase in the number of people walking around with them, the number iPod robberies has also increased. They are targeted because they are valuable, easily identifiable and come without any anti-theft protection. To help you prevent some no good thief from stealing your iPod, here are some easy to follow prevention steps next time you go out listening to your music:

  • The number one thing you never want to do is to leave your iPod unattended and if do need to leave it for Amplifier Car Stereo little bit, hid it well. Always keep it in your purse or a pocket in your pants or jacket. Keep it well out of sight when you leave it in your car. It should be out of plain sight from someone on the street. You never know who will be walking by your car and see it. That person might just break into your car to get it. Now, not only is your iPod stolen but your car has been broken into.
  • Get yourself a specially designed lock made for iPods. These portable iPod locks attach and lock to you want. Most people use them with their purse, backpack, lounge chair at the pool or treadmill at the gym.
  • Lose the white iPod earpieces. They are a dead giveaway for thieves looking for a target to steal from since they are easily noticeable from distance. Find earphones less distinguishable and therefore less likely to draw unwanted attention.
  • Try not to wear your iPod's belt clip. Wearing them out is all out advertisement for a thief to rob you. Actually, it can be quite dangerous even. Those clips can be removed from your belt rather easily and before you realize it, some thief is now the proud new owner of your iPod.
  • Another smart move to make is to register your iPod with Apple's website. Get this done from the first day you own it. If you don't already have an iTunes account, you'll have to create an Apple ID name and password. Register your serial number found on the back of your iPod. Next, make a profile including your home address and phone number. Now if someone finds your iPod can calls Apple to report finding a lost iPod, Apple can contact you that it has been found.
  • It's also a good idea in general to know your iPod's serial number. If it ever gets stolen, you can give the police the serial number and description of it. This gives the police a much better chance of recovering your iPod.
